General Care & Maintenance
In the end of your counter top installation, our installers seal the tops once for you. We highly recommend that you re-seal your natural surface every 6-12 months. If you have marble or any kind of stone that is softer than granite, we advise that you re-seal it every 3-6 months. If you have an engineered material installed (e.g. quartz or solid surface), this does not need to be sealed. Re-sealing your counter tops is a service that we can provide to you (fees vary depending on the amount of square footage) or you can easily do it yourself with the following safe products.
-
DO NOT use vinegar, bleach, abrasives, ammonia, window cleaners, dishwashing liquid, general use cleaners, alkaline-based cleaners, acidic cleaners, bathroom cleaners, tub and tile cleaners, or any kind of cleaners that claim to be safe for stone but do not have a track record of marketing stone-specific products.
-
DO NOT use green or black nylon pads, steel wool, or any type of abrasive rag/pad to clean your counter tops.
-
DO use Stone Essentials™ Daily Cleaner with Protector every day to reinforce your stone's stain defense. Another simple way to clean your counter tops is by using a soft cloth with warm water and mild soap.
-
DO blot up all spills immediately to minimize stains or any compromise to your stone.
-
DO use coasters under glasses and cups, especially if they contain alcohol or citrus juice.
