Soapstone is a natural occurring stone. The reasoning for its name is because it is soft to the touch similar to a dry bar of soap. This material is composed of softer minerals which makes it important to care with caution. Treating soapstone with a mineral oil helps to enhance the beauty and can be reapplied when the surface reveals dull spots. Most soapstone's come in darker backgrounds with lighter subtle or various veining.
